Olivine is an olive-green, magnesium-iron silicate mineral, commonly forming small granular crystals in volcanic rocks. As the parent material of the gemstone peridot, it typically appears as translucent-to-transparent yellow-green, with a hardness of 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale. It is widely found in earth’s mantle.
